Tips Of The Week

Tip 1:
If you want to record home videos with your webcam, you can use the following programs.

1.Windows Movie Maker for WMV file format.
2.VirtualDubMod for AVI file format.
3.WinAVI Video Capture for MPEG format (VCD, SVCD and DVD).

If you plan to view the video in your PC itself, Windows Movie Maker seems to be the best choice because of the automatic recommended settings. If you plan to view the video in your standalone DVD player, you better use WinAVI Video Capture which can produce MPEG format in no time.

Of course, you can play AVI files in your standalone DVD player if it is DIVX certified. But VirtualDubMod settings might scare you (as usual!!). The final point is the quality of the video produced is more or less the same in all three programs because obviously the quality depends on the hardware (webcam).
Tip 2:
If you want to search for the availability of a file in Rapidshare, use the following command line in Google Search.
filename intext:rapidshare.com
Of course, you can use this command to check for the availability of ANY file in ANY storage website like Rapidshare, Megaupload etc., You will just get a few pages of relevant results from which you can easily spot the link you want for download.

If you don't find what you want, try searching with a different spelling by varying 1 or 2 characters especially for filenames adapted from non-english languages. Even an unnoticed extra space will make a difference. You'll never know how the uploader had spelled the file name.

DSL Vs ADSL

Question Of The Week

DSL Vs ADSL
What is the difference?

DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. ADSL means Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. The DSL line is Symmetric, which means that the bandwidth of both the upstream (sending data) and the downstream (receiving data) are in the same capacity. The actual speed you get can vary, depending on the package you sign up for, and how far away you are from the server. In ADSL, the upstream bandwidth is usually around 25% of the downstream bandwidth (that's why asymmetric). ADSL is generally more affordable than DSL which is more expensive, but offers more bandwidth for uploading. ADSL is more than enough for most of the home users and small businessmen.

EatCam Webcam Recorder

Program Of The Week

EatCam Webcam Recorder

Are you a girl? Do you chat with internet friends? Do you have a webcam? Do you strongly believe that your webcam output can't be recorded by your so-called Friend? You are WRONG!

It is quite possible for your internet friend to record your webcam show. Eatcam software can record any area of the monitor defined by the user just by selecting the webcam window to be recorded.

I thought many times before writing about this software because I didn't want Eatcam to fall in wrong hands. But then, how can I inform those ignorant girls I mentioned in the first paragraph? OK... I am not Lord Krishna - the protector. I just don't believe that "Ignorance is a Bliss".
