Tip 1:
If you want to download a software, always go to its homepage (Use Google Search). Pirated versions are most likely to contain viruses!

While installing a program (especially multi-functional software packs like Nero, MS-Office, K-Lite Codec Pack etc., try CUSTOM installation which allows you to omit unnecessary functionalities.

After installation of a software, have a look at the manual (if available) or just click on the HELP tab in the menu bar of the program window.

After getting familiar with the functions of a software as advised in Tip 3, go to its "Options" or "Preferences" and customize it before you start using the program. If you are not sure, don't touch the "Advanced Settings".
